Deceased accounts management
If you have just lost a loved one, we deeply sympathies with you. We have prepared a few tips to help you with the process.
The details of your loved one
We need the following deceased's details:
- Cellphone number
- South African ID or Passport
- Death certificate
- Executorship letter (optional)
If you have the necessary information, complete the following steps:

Fill in the form
Email the completed form to: Deceased@vodacom.co.zaDownload form
What document file format is acceptable?
When submitting your documents to Vodacom, please make sure that its in the following file format:
What happens after my documents have been submitted?
i. Once the requested documentation has been submitted, you will receive a reference number via a system generated SMS.
ii. Your selected option will then be performed as specified on the Deceased accounts management form.
iii. One of our consultants will contact you within 3 working days, to provide you with feedback.
What is an Executorship letter?
An executor is someone who has been appointed to carry out the needs of a deceased person’s estate. The executor, in most cases, will be in possession of an Executorship letter, which helps to prove that they have been put in charge of someone’s assets, after they have passed away.
What happens if I choose to convert the account to Prepaid?
A Prepaid conversion is when a premature settlement is done and all outstanding amounts have been settled on an account. The number will remain active, however it will be changed to a Prepaid number.
Can I terminate the contract after transferring ownership?
Yes, should you wish to cancel the contract after transferring it to someone else, the normal cancellation process will apply.
