Understanding The New Data Regulations
On 17 November 2017, the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) published amendments to the End User Subscriber Service Charter Regulation. These amendments address customer usage notifications and the intervals at which the notifications will be sent for voice, SMS, and data services.
Vodacom will address the following areas of the Regulation:
- Data Transfer and Data Rollover
The ability to either have the unused data rollover to the next billing period or the transfer of this data to another user on the same network.
- Data Limit Lock
The ability to buy additional services once the allocated ones have been depleted
- Out of Bundle Default Blocking
The ability for customers to ‘opt in’ or ‘opt out’ of being charged out-of-bundle rates.
- Last in First Out (LIFO) to First in first out (FIFO) – Order of Consumption
Customers voice, data and SMS usage will be changed from LIFO to FIFO.
